Amazing People Making Second Chances Possible.

Lottie - Adopted 5/9/2026
Lottie came to us as a wee baby with her siblings, who immediately started showing symptoms of parvo upon arrival. They were rushed to CPVETS where they received the parvovirus monoclonal antibody, iv fluids, antibiotics and antiemetics to try to get ahead of the virus. Thankfully she and her siblings are sweet little fighters and were eventually cleared and parvo free!
We are so thankful to her fosters for dedicating so much time to getting her healthy, giving her medications, helping her thrive and bounce back and then prepare her for her very own home. We can not do all we do without dedicated fosters volunteering their time, their homes, and especially their hearts and love and making sure every angel is ready to soar.
We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to add this angel to their hearts and homes! Lottie has a wonderful mom and some human brothers to bond with and make every day the best day ever! We wish all of you every good thing that this life can bring you.

Meeka claimed her family! Meeka came to us as an owner surrender a little over a month ago due some unfortunate circumstances. She also tested positive for a severe case of Giardia. Her Giardia was treated but she also has enteritis so we have been working closely with the vet to get her as healthy as possible. She needed vaccines and still needs to have her spay surgery once she’s cleared for the procedure.

Jaya - Adopted 4/11/2026
Jaya came into the haven last summer, disgustingly emaciated. She had been chained to a dog box, “owner” abandoned her like that and moved away…. But she also had seven three week old babies left with her. While her babies nursed and took all the nutrients she could give them, she starved slowly until someone happened upon her and called animal control. Animal control took her and her babies to one of our shelter partners who put in an urgent plea for help.
Jaya had a wonderful foster step up for her and her babies and offered to take them all in until they were able to be weaned from their mom and find their own homes. Jaya wasn’t just combating emaciation and starvation, she also had a severe eye injury that resulted in loss of vision, and was heartworm positive.
Jaya continued to be an amazing mom and watched her babies fly the coop and come to new fosters until their forevers were found. Each pup was adopted last year.
Jaya then began her long journey to becoming the healthiest gal she probably had ever been. She gained the weight she needed, going from 30 lbs to now weighing in around 55lbs. She got all her vaccines. Had her eye treated. Went through heartworm treatment, and was then spayed.
Jaya has been living with her foster family since last June as a foster to adopt once she was fully healthy and cleared, and today was that day.
We’re so thankful to her fosters for giving her life saving care to her and her babies, and continuing with dedication and love for Jaya…. For all the rest of her days. She has a wonderful mom and dad, and lots of other animal friends to continue building relationships with for every day until forever.
Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

They did a wonderful job preparing him for his forever and we are so thankful to them.
We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to add this angel to their home and hearts. Apollo has a wonderful mom and dad, some human siblings, and a doggo siblings to continue learning from and adventuring with.

Dutchess - Adopted 3/27/2026
Dutchess and her siblings (our “Snow Dog” litter) were dropped off in the middle of the night. The family called us for help the next day and said there were 6 dogs. We agreed to help, and 5 dogs arrived. Someone else decided they would take the 6th. Each of the 5 entered their foster home to begin some much needed veterinary care and await their forever homes.
A week later, we got a call from the person who had taken the 6th dog asking if we could take her too. They said she was being aggressive towards men and other people coming into the home and they were not prepared to deal with behavior issues. I suspected that it was not aggression, so agreed. She came to us the most fearful of her siblings and confirmed what I knew. She wasn’t mean or aggressive, she was terrified. She had no socialization and the only way she knew to get people to back off and show she was uncomfortable, was by barking. Deeply.
Dutchess entered her foster and after a very strict decompression time, began working on her confidence. Did it take time? Yep. Patience? Yep. Staring over each day? Yep. But she made significant progress. Today, Dutchess is still shy and timid in new situations and with people she hasn’t yet met, but she no longer barks at them. And best yet, she warms up quickly and loves to give kisses. Even to men. We are so thankful to her foster family for helping her learn how to live in a home, have structure and most of all be safe and loved while she waited for her forever.
We are also so grateful to her new mom for choosing to add this angel to her home and heart. Dutchess has an amazing mom who has experience with fearful reactivity. She also has some doggo cousins we know she can not wait to meet. We wish you both, the best this life can bring you.

Balto - Adopted 3/14/2026
Balto is a part of our Musher pups—a group of dogs named after the canine heroes who made the very long and dangerous 674 mile run to Nome, Alaska to deliver a life saving serum, diphtheria antitoxin in 1925. Balto ran the last leg of the lifesaving journey, and gained notoriety, and a statue erected in his honor in Central Park. And in much the same way, our Balto will remain a concrete part of our hearts for always.
Balto is such an amazing boy and has been since day 1. He can be a tad on the dramatic side, and a little overly needy from time to time. But hes been one of the easiest fellas we’ve had, and the best boy with the exception of a few minor puppy antics. He is smart, he is collected and he is perfect. He came as a tiny baby, but is leaving as one of the largest pups we’ve ever had, at a whopping 50.5 lbs at only 4 months old.
We are so thankful to his fosters for saving them, helping them thrive, teaching him life skills, socialization, and making sure he was healthy, happy and a well rounded young man to set him up for success for his new family.
We are so thankful to his new family for adding this Angel to their hearts and homes. Balto has a wonderful mom and dad and an older fur sister to continue teaching, molding and helping him develop into the very best dog he can be. We wish you all the absolute best that life can bring you, and all the years of love your hearts can handle.

She still has some vet care to finish up, which we will take care of, but she was more than ready to head off hand in paw into the sunset.
We are so thankful to her new family for adding this Angel to their hearts and home. She has a wonderful mom and dad, some neighborhood kids to play with, and all the attention she could ever dream of. We wish all of you the absolute best this life can bring you.

Summit and her siblings were living as strays with their mom. They came to us after their mom was hit and killed by a vehicle. Summit’s siblings were trapped and taken into temporary foster until a rescue could be found. Summit however eluded all attempts at humans helping her for almost a week after her siblings had been caught. Thankfully she got tired of being alone and hungry, and walked into a trap, allowing people to help her. She hasn’t regretted that decision since.
We are so thankful to Ronya and her network for helping these kiddos. And especially to her fosters for giving her safety, teaching her how to build trust, teaching her structure, and showing her what love is truly about while she got most of her vetting done and awaited her forever.
We are so grateful to her new mom for adding this Angel to her heart and home. Summit has an amazing mom and also has an older, though smaller, fur brother to continue learning from, and a ton of extended doggo cousins to spend her life playing with, loving and enjoying life with. Sochi - Adopted 2/20/2026
Sochi (left) came to us last summer. She has had a long journey, an unconventional one, but one well worth the wait.
When she was surrendered, It was claimed she would run away if let outside, was unable to be housetrained, or trained in any way, and had also had a litter of pups, and no vet care. She was matted in multiple areas, and covered in urine stains.
We immediately got Sochi into a vet and got her vaccines and treated for a prolonged urinary tract infection. One that caused pretty extensive thickening of her bladder and potential scarring. She was groomed and had her mats removed, and then it was time to work on training the “untrainable.”
From experience, no dog is untrainable. But each DOES take time, patience, positive associations and finding what each dog responds to best. Some may be food, some toys, some affection, and others require a little bit of creativity.
She went to her foster, and truthfully, Sochi was an excellent student. She very quickly learned she was supposed to go to the bathroom outside. She learned some tricks, she did well learning leash walking and starting to work on recall. She learned how to start playing with toys, and loved affection more than anything else. Her foster said she’s one of the easiest she’s ever had.
Sochi was adopted. She was returned two weeks later, due to having anxiety. She had been put on trazodone at her new home day 2. We took her off the traz, she settled back into her foster and quickly settled in like she had never left.
She was adopted again. After a few weeks was started on fluoxetine for anxiety. After about 6 weeks, we were contacted and asked to once again take her back. She had begun having accidents—both urinary and defecating. The vet she was changed to wanted to run additional testing and due to a change in jobs, the home felt they would be unable to afford the tests.
Again, her amazing foster took her back and she settled in seamlessly. We got her into our vet. Bloodwork was ran, ultrasound was completed. She had gained ten pounds since she left and her bloodwork showed she had pancreatitis. I asked if her food had been switched. It had. The change in food likely was a catalyst for the pancreatitis, which was then causing her accidents. We changed her diet, we weaned her off the anxiety meds. She stopped having accidents. She lost the ten pounds gained. She was happy, once again healthy, and finally ready for her forever.
One of our previous adopters expressed interest in meeting her when she learned she returned to the rescue a second time. We waited until Sochi was all healed up and her bloodwork returned to normal, and then she met Mischelle and angel alum, Ghost. We werent sure if it would be a fit because Ghost can be very dog selective. But he picked Sochi right off the bat. Sochi began having day dates at Ghost’s house to make sure he would be ok with another dog being there. And he was more than ok with it. He is absolutely in love with her, and plays with her more than weve ever seen him play in the last two years. This wasnt just going to be the home who gave Sochi what she always deserved, but it was also going to give Ghost more joy, love and happiness than he knew he could have.
Today Ghost and Mischelle made it official.
We are so thankful to Sochi’s foster who went above and beyond, always welcoming this beauty back into her home, giving her the best care, working with her extensively on training, helping her get healthy several times, and loving her so very fiercely.
We are also so thankful for her forever home. Sochi has the most amazing mom, who knew immediately she was who Sochi needed, and was ready to do whatever it took to make that happen and be succesful for Sochi & Ghost. Sochi will live the life of a princess, will always be taken care of, loved and have the best furbrother she could ever dream of. We wish the three of you all of the very best that this life can bring you.
Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!
Sye - Adopted 2/17/2026
Sye is a part of our Musher pups—a group of dogs named after the canine heroes who made the very long and dangerous 674 mile run to Nome, Alaska to deliver a life saving serum, diphtheria antitoxin in 1925.
Sye is such an amazing boy and has been since day 1. He can be a bit on the dramatic side, and a little overly needy from time to time. But hes been one of the easiest fellas we’ve had.
We are so thankful to his fosters for saving them, helping them thrive, teaching him life skills, socialization, and making sure he was healthy, happy and a well rounded young man to set him up for success for his new family.
We are so thankful to his new family for adding this Angel to their hearts and homes. Sye has a wonderful mom and dad, two human boys of his very own, and an older (but probably not bigger for much longer!) shepherd sister to continue teaching, molding and helping him develop into the very best dog he can be. We wish you all the absolute best that life can bring you, and all the years of love your hearts can handle.
Happiest tails, sweetest boy. You are so very loved!

Wilma - Adopted 2/11/2026
Wilma came to us in November, she and her pup Pebbles, had been picked up by animal control as strays. Both girls were the absolute most sweet beings, some of the sweetest we’ve known!
Wilma, being distinguished in age at around 7.5, won over every person here quickly, finished up her vet care, including a dental with some extractions, and began living her best life while she waited for someone deserving of her love to come along to choose as her forever.
We are so thankful to her fosters for giving her the love, structure, security, and attention she deserved while in their care, and being the bridge she need to fur-always.
We are so grateful to her new mom for adding this Angel to her heart and home. Not only does Wilma have a wonderful mom, but she has some kitty siblings to get into mischief with (hopefully not too much), to sunbathe in windows with, and to enjoy the rest of her days with.
We wish all of you the very best this life can bring you.
Happiest tails most beautiful girl. You are so very loved!
Togo - Adopted 2/7/2026
Togo is a part of our Musher pups—a group of dogs named after the canine heroes who made the very long and dangerous 674 mile run to Nome, Alaska to deliver a life saving serum, diphtheria antitoxin in 1925. Togo was the quiet, most important dog of this run, traveling the longest and most treacherous span of 261 miles. He often didn’t get as much credit as Balto, the last leg of the run; but without Togo, so many lives would have perished.
The name fit him exquisitely. He was the quiet, observant, most intelligent member of his litter. The smartest, the one who will grow up with the highest drive for learning and working. The glue who held them all in line.
We are so thankful to his fosters for saving them, helping them thrive, teaching him life skills, socialization, and making sure he was healthy, happy and a well rounded boy to set him up for success for his new family.
We are so thankful to his new family for adding this Angel to their hearts and homes. Togo has a great mom and dad, a human sister of his own to love for always, and a doggo Shepherd sister to continue teaching, molding and helping him develop into the very best dog he can be. We wish you all the absolute best that life can bring you, and all the years of love your hearts can handle.
Happiest tails, most handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Baloo - Adopted 1/17/2026
Baloo and his siblings joined us at the beginning of October needing some pretty major tlc with their grooming, nails, parasites and socialization, and they needed to gain a good bit of weight. They settled into their foster, got all their vaccines completed, were treated for parasites, got their skin and fur all cleaned up, and their nails did. They quickly became the sweetest little mogwai bunches of fur, and now they have all found their forever homes.
We are so thankful to Baloo’s new mom for choosing to add this Angel to her home and heart. He has an amazing mom who will give him the world, some kitty siblings and his own doggo sister to continue showing him all the fun things in store for his life. We wish you all the best that this life can bring you.

Dahlia - Adopted 1/16/2026
Dahlia came to us with the very best RBF we’ve seen in a minute (but the absolute most amazing personality) because someone had tied a band around her tail to do an “at home tail dock” it became so infected, it spread to the base of her spine and when she got to us she was rushed immediately to one ER (thanks CPVETS!) and had bloodwork, X-rays and a catheter put in, and then was taken immediately to BluePearl Pittsburgh Pet Hospitals to the neurology and surgical team to have her tail amputated. The entire tail was removed, she doesn’t even have a nubbin to wag, but she thankfully avoided becoming septic and healed so so beautifully.
We are so thankful to her fosters for providing her the space and grace to heal, showing her kindness and love, teaching her about laughter, love and happiness. Dahlia finished up all of her normal vetting and then awaited her perfect family.
We are so very grateful to her new mom and dad for adding this Angel to their hearts and home. Dahlia has an amazing mom and dad, and a fur brother to spend her days playing with, growing with, and loving each day with love. We wish all of you the very best this life can bring you.
Happiest butt and body wiggles, beautiful girl! You are so very loved!
Oakley - Adopted 1/10/2026
Oakley was taken in by a nice family after seeing her being given away. They started her vet care and searched for a rescue to help out with the rest of it and to help find her the best home.
She then joined us and went to her foster, whom we are so very grateful for, and made huge strides in learning some confidence and trust in new places and situations. She finished up her vetting, continued learned some commands, worked on her stuffy thrashing game, polishing up her house and crate training skills, and awaited her family to find her.
We are so thankful to her new mom and dad for choosing to open their hearts and home to this beauty. They know she will need patience to fully open up to her dad, and her mom is hoping that once she settles in, they can work on her becoming a therapy helping dog. She’s going to have the most amazing life, and she deserves it. We wish you all the absolute best this life can bring you.
Happiest tails sweet girl. You are so very loved!
Toffee - Adopted 1/10/2026
Toffee came to us after her dad could no longer care for her. She was still a young gal and he wanted to give her the best life possible.
She went into her foster where she learned to trust new people, play and live with another dog, get all of her vetting completed since she had none, and to be loved beyond measure. We are so thankful to her foster for giving her the time, space and grace to heal, blossom and be ready for her furalways.
We are so thankful to her new mom for choosing to add this angel to her heart and home. Toffee has a fur sister doggo, a kitty and some farm animals to meet and figure out. We wish all of you the very best this life can bring you.
Happiest tails beautiful girl! You are so loved!

Ori - Adopted 1/7/2026
Ori was a semi feral boy who came to us in March of 2024, a transfer from another rescue who was having a rough time and the dogs in their care needed and deserved more than they could offer to them.
We quickly learned Ori wasn’t just a normal “rescue” dog. He was fearful of every new situation. He was terrified of leashes and collars—likely due to being feral and then being “catchpoled” by an officer. To this day, though he wears his collar proudly, he still fears leashes. Ori needed a fenced yard, lots and lots of patience, and a dog who could help him to know he was safe in situations he was exposed to. He learned that new people aren’t bad, and can be friends. He learned that he really likes lamb chop toys, and kittens. And that his foster family was super duper A-ok.
We knew that finding him a home suitable would be a hard task. It would require extreme patience, kindness, and check the box of all he required. After a year and a half of posting him, his foster family realized that they were his forever from day 1, and that going somewhere new would likely be detrimental to the trust that he had already built.
The decision was made in October, but just due to the busyness of the year and schedules not aligning, and the fact we knew he was safe and wasn’t going anywhere, we didn’t get the opportunity for a proper adoption photo.
We are so thankful to Ori’s mom and dad for adding this Angel to their hearts and home. Ori has two other former Angel doggo siblings, and another doggo sibling, and also has some kitties to keep him busy and entertained. We wish all of you the very best that this life can bring you. You’ve been home since day 1, but now it’s official.
Happiest tails sweet boy. You are so very loved!

Storm will have her new abode all to herself and her mom to be treated like a queen, and has lots of grandkids to fall in love with and win the hearts of. We think she may have already we wish all of you the absolute best that life can bring you.

So this pretty senior gal joined us to get some pretty extensive vetting done—urinalysis, skin treatments, flea treatments, vaccines, fecals and bloodwork. She did it all with dignity and grace and we are so thankful for her foster mom for keeping her safe and loved while she waited for her forever.

They quickly became the sweetest little mogwai bunches of fur, and a few have started searching for their forever homes.

Nutmeg - Adopted 1/1/2026
Nutmeg joined us about two months ago after being abandoned in the woods. She had parasites. She was malnourished. Malnourished to the point that she had no muscle mass in her abdominal wall and truthfully resembled a dog with fluid buildup in their abdomen from heart failure. So she underwent a ton of tests—urinalysis, ultrasounds, bloodwork, the works.
With lots of love, deworming, proper nutrition and antibiotics, she has truly bloomed and flourished and became a beautiful blend of spice and sweetness. Just like her name.
We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to add this angel to their hearts and home. Nutmeg has three little humans of her own to grow with, to continue learning and developing with, and to love for all of her days. She’s got a pretty great mom and dad too. We wish each of you the absolute best life this world can offer.
Happiest tails sweet girl! You are so very loved!
Diem - Adopted 1/1/2026
Diem came to us in March of 2024. She was a mess to be quite honest. She hadn’t had a good life, had litters of pups, was emaciated, covered in scabs, sores and had a very long journey to be what is considered healthy.
But she did it. And along the way, she found her best friends in life are her kids—the human kind. She waited for 6 months for her home, and then a year, and then a year and 6 months….. and still no one came to Make her the best member of their family they could dream of.
And then, she developed a mass. And it was aspirated, and we learned it was mast cell cancer. And so she had surgery. She healed. And then her foster family realized that she had never found that forever home she dreamed of, because they had already found her.
Sometimes dogs wait longer, and that’s ok. Our dogs are not to be pitied. Because they are immensely loved in their fosters. It just means that their people haven’t yet seen them, that the right home hasn’t come along yet, and sometimes….. sometimes it means they’ve been home all along.
We wish Diem, her 3 human kids, her mom and dad, and her fursiblings the very best life they could ever dream of. Days filled with pajama wearing, dress up and tea parties, and always, always love.
Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!
