Meet Our Team

Volunteers

This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause. We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is an easy and efficient way of contributing to the great work we do at Abby’s Angels Animal Haven.

Get in touch with any questions about how you can volunteer your time to be a foster home, transporter or participate in application processing and adoptions.

Alyssa

Volunteer | Board Member

My name is Alyssa. I volunteer in multiple areas with the rescue, am on the board and I am also the Application Processing Coordinator. I make sure that all of our adopters and fosters are contacted in a timely manner to help the dogs find their homes! I also help with events and posting on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

I live with my 4 dogs, one of which was a foster "fail" through the rescue, and another I adopted through AAAH. My family always had dogs growing up; but when I moved out on my own, I didn't live in an apartment that allowed pets. I had experienced a tragedy which caused my mom to suggest that I consider moving to a pet friendly location. I took her advice; and she got me my first dog as an adult, Stella.

Stella became my best friend, my side kick. She and I became so close and bonded that all I wanted to do was give back to the species that saved me. Volunteering with a rescue just seemed natural to me. When I'm not helping with the rescue, I can be found cuddling with my pups, off roading in my Jeep, or enjoying nature at any local state park.

Hi I’m Natalie. My husband and I have fostered several dogs for Abby’s Angels and I also help coordinate medical care, plan and help with fundraising and take care of secretarial duties for the rescue.

We were the parents to Suki, one of the Loveabell pups that you may remember. She was such a blessing to our lives and we miss her every day.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with our three grandsons, our daughters, camping, having family time and spoiling our 14 year old rescue boy, Eeyore.

Volunteer | Board Member

Hi. My name is Kelli.

I started fostering through Abby's Angels in January 2021. After medical issues forced me to retire from my career as a mental health therapist. After I lost my soul dog Jet.

Fostering has helped me begin to fix what was broken- a sense of worth, self-esteem, and spirit. Theirs and my own.

Along the way I try to teach them some basic commands, get them used to being in a home, provide socialization, and learn all I can about them. All of this helps in finding them their perfect home.

Fostering for this great organization and wonderful group of people is my passion. I also volunteer in other areas as needed. I am honored and thankful be part of this rescue.

I live in Bedford with my 3 rescue

"Ninjas" - Kya, Mataia, and Mani. Mataia and Mani were both adopted through Abby's Angels.

Larissa

Foster and Adoption Coordinator

Hi! I am Larissa, and I volunteer with Abby's Angels as the Foster and Adoption Coordinator. I work full time as a Human Resources professional and also serve on the board of directors for Joey’s P.A.W. - a non-profit that optimizes the quality of life of special needs dogs, focusing on providing them with prosthetics and wheelchairs.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Frank and our two rescue dogs, Shiloh and Ellie. Animals have always held the biggest place in my heart, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be involved with Abby’s and help find forever homes for our angels. Adopt, don’t shop!

Leonard Family

Volunteers

Our family consists of Justin, Kaitlyn, Landon, Abigail & Ada! We foster dogs and love the learning opportunity this provides for our children. We have dogs of our own who love house guests, and we all know just how important fostering is to ensure their safety and future. Our resident cat, Dijon, takes his job as cat-tester very seriously!

Roger & Nicole

Volunteers

We are Roger and Nicole. We live in Berlin, PA with our 3 pups (Trixie, Prue, and Boomer), 2 cats (Sophie and Edgar), and various reptiles and fish. We are both animal lovers and have adopted 2 of our pups from Abby’s Angels. We have been fostering pups since fall of 2019. Each one comes into our home with a different temperament, but with some love and patience, cuddles, lots of romping and playing, and plenty of treats they leave for their forever homes knowing what love is and that they will never be without it again.

We also try to help with as many fundraisers as we can. We appreciate what Nicole and all the other volunteers do for all of these sweet pups and will always help and support them in whatever ways we can.

Amy

Volunteer

Hi! I’m Amy! By profession, I am a Pediatrician, but my heart belongs with my two dogs, Lani and Bailey. I got my first dog, Mollie, while I was a resident in Columbus, Ohio. She taught me about the love and companionship of a pet, and we moved twice during her time with me, the first to Indiana, PA, then finally to Bedford, PA in 2014. In 2011, I added my second dog, Bailey, to my little pack. In late 2020, Mollie’s arthritis became severe. I fell in love with a tiny little puppy on the AAAH page and within days adopted my first rescue, Lani (formerly Kiba) in November of 2020.

I had several months with a pack of three and loved every moment of it! Mollie enjoyed teaching her new fur sister to be a good dog, and the two were often found snuggling. Mollie passed in March of 2021, finally succumbing to her arthritis at almost 13 yrs old. Lani has been work (she is very timid and has required a lot of training and socialization to work through this), but she is a beautiful soul and ignited my passion for rescue. I help out AAAH when I can, most often by doing virtual home visits, but when my schedule allows I have occasionally helped with application processing and events such as Santa pictures.

Jessie

Volunteer

Hi! My name is Jessie and I have been fostering for a little over a year. My soul pup had to leave me after 14 great years together, and I wanted to help other dogs in need to keep me going and my heart full. It has been challenging at times, however the most rewarding experience I have ever been involved in.

My boys (ages 9 and 11) have learned a lot and have helped immensely along with my husband Victor.

I also continue to learn daily. We have 3 fuuurrever doggos as well that help the others learn family life. Thanks to Nicole for giving us a shot and fulfilling a dream of mine!

To our volunteers

Thanks for supporting the values we believe in.

Give a second chance.

Help all those in need.

Do it one angel at a time.
